Among the most refined rugs in our collection, this Isfahan stands apart through its dramatic and rarely seen black field — a ground colour that makes the large ivory and gold central medallion seem to float against infinite depth. The arabesque secondary field, executed in kork wool of the highest grade, reveals layer upon layer of detail as the eye travels across it: interlocking vines, open palmettes, lancet leaves, and delicate cloud-bands. The silk foundation gives the pile a characteristic sheen that shifts with the angle of light. A collector's piece in every sense.
